JPT3815W WPA2-PSK(AES) cant connect

Postby Borrishair » Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:19 am

Can you help I can get my JPT3815W to connect to my network (over WPA2-PSK(AES)).

Connection is ok if the network is open but not if WPA2-PSK(AES) is used.

Is there any way to see the password as you put it in to confirm you have entered the correct one?
I am using the cameras built in settings.

Hardware Version Ver 1.8
Firmware Version Ver 1.7.22

Borrishair/Support05,

I have the exact same problem as Borris and have the same hardware/firmware version.

I had an issue before where I would change the password and the search tool would not recognize it, even when double/triple checked that I entered it correctly. The default password would work just fine, but the one I wanted to use wouldn't.

The Open/WEP setting worked for me because I used a very simple password.

The WPA/WPA2 settings didn't work because I used a very complex, long, random password.

Do you want to know what the problem is? Can you guess it?

Sorry for that.
There are thousand kinds of the router in the world.
Some customers find camera can only connect wifi when wifi is WEP. While some find it should be WPA or WPA2.
It is hard for us to figure out the problem and solve it.
Therefore, we suggest customer changed encryption mode if correct one can not connect wifi.

I had a combination of 1.8 hardware and 1.7.22 firmware as well, which doesn't work with WPA2/AES either. However firmware 1.7.25 (IPC_V1.8_V1.7.25.zip) on the same camera works for me.

Yes, my hardware 1.8 with firmware 1.7.25 can connect to WPA2-AES-PSK (I only allow WPA2-AES on my router) on an 11n router (TP-Link WR1043ND) and stay connected so far. Knocking on wood... It's not perfect either, as CamViewer will trigger a reboot/patrol loop on the camera. IP Cam Viewer and TENVIS.US iPhone apps work fine though.

OTOH, my hardware 1.7 and firmware 1.7.20 combination can connect to WPA2-AES-PSK on the same router as well before the wifi connection died for good. CamViewer worked well with that combination.

Please send me a private message. I'd like to get a copy of that firmware for my JPT3815w that just dropped off the Wi-Fi a few days ago. Thanks.

I have a jpt3815w that won't connect to my TP-LINK TL-WR841N router too.

Hardware Version Ver 1.8
Firmware Version Ver 1.7.22

@support05, can you send me the 1.7.25 firmware?
