If you connect to the camera via a browser an manually look at the DDNS settings I believe there is a list of DDNS providers that the camera is able to use.  The DDNS has to be enabled first.

Thank you for replying.  I do see the DDNS settings and 9299.org is selected for service.  How do I enable the DDNS?

Hi there,

In my JPT3815 (not a 2003) I have the following drop-down list.
DDNSLIST.jpg

By selecting one of the items off the list "enables" the camera to update the DDNS service with the correct IP address for remote access.

As you can see 9299.org is not on my list.  I visited the 9299.org home page and it is in Chinese which I can not read.  So I would have difficulty in advising you on how to complete the details needed on their site.

DDNS is in two parts.
Part "A" is an account with a DDNS organisation (like the names on the list) they help maintain internet pointers to the camera
Part "B" is entering the account details into the camera.
part A is needed before part B.

It's mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack. Not rationality; or pies

Why are the lists are different for the same camera?  Are any of these services free?  I read some posts that asked for passwords to the tenvis.org service and they were given them.   Which service do you use?  Thank you again in advance.

alright.. i help to make something clear if you wanna know that your JPT3815 is builded in DDNS or not just have a look at your JPT3815 underneath find the label there is an username on it (not admin) but if you don't have you can ask for the DDNS to the support team they will create an account for you (my case i purchased it before October last year they was not provided DDNS service yet) and then go to your DDNS setting find the DDNS provider follow the instuction (DDNS provider list is depend on your firmware update for my case at first it has no-ip included but after i've done the update it disappeared from the list so i use Tenvis.org instead according to the suppoort team created for me)

I looked on the bottom of the camera. It only had a Remote Access URL but no Username.
Firmware version is 0.37.2.36
Embedded Web UI Client version is 3.2.2.16

How do I contact the support team and what do I ask them for?
My DDNS Service dropdown list is as follows:

None
Oray.net
DynDns.org (dyndns)
DynDns.org (statdns)
DynDns.org (custom)
3322.org (dyndns)
3322.org (statdns)
MintDNS
9299.org

I guess I really do not understand what these are or how to enter the information.  For example, what is the difference between DDNS Service and DDNS Hostname?  Must I do something with these DDNS Services?

It never was this complicated to get my DLink camera working on the net.

Hi zimbaro

What aus2us described about asking the support team about a new DDNS is correct.  That would be one way of getting a DDNS for the camera.

Your "Embedded Web UI Client version is 3.2.2.16" but the latest version is 3.2.2.20 and that may update the list to include Tenvis in the drop-down list.

However, if you already have a Dlink camera that you can view from the net then you must already have a DDNS account with someone.  You can make use of that to access your Tenvis camera.  I will try to explain.

If you have a Dlink camera I will use that as an example.  I know that Dlink offer a free DDNS service.  If you have this then...

  • A DDNS is a pointer to an internet address.
  • You only need 1 to point to your router from the internet.

MyHouse.dlinkddns.com  ---->  MyRouter

When you need to access a specific device on your home network from the internet then

MyHouse.dlinkddns.com:81  ---->  MyRouter  ---->  DlinkCamera

More than 1 device?

MyHouse.dlinkddns.com:81  ---->  MyRouter  ---->  DlinkCamera
MyHouse.dlinkddns.com:82  ---->  MyRouter  ---->  TenvisCamera
MyHouse.dlinkddns.com:83  ---->  MyRouter  ---->  AnotherCamera

Use "Port Forwarding" on your router to direct the incoming ports 81,82,83,etc to the internal IP address of the camera(s)

Hope this helps explain a little about DDNS

Thank you for the explanation. I really appreciate your time in educating me. I understand DDNS a bit better now, but (always a but) here is my continued confusion.    I can view my Dlink camera over the internet,  but I use a Dlink app.  I don't remember ever signing up for a Dlink DDNS account.  I logged into my Netgear WNDR3400 router and looked at the DDNS settings. The only DDNS Service provider listed in the dropdown list is dyndns.org and there are no entries in the Hostname, User, and Password fields. Please provide further guidance on setting up the DDNS. Is dyndns.org the only provider that can be used with this router as it is not free?
